Rudraksha as per Vedas and Puranas

Rudraksha came to Existence From Devi Bhagwat Puran (Book 11 Chapter 4) Conversation between Mahadev & Kartikey. After the demolition of Tripur lord Shiva, Bramha, Vishnu, Indra, and other gods went to the Himalayas to get rest. Lord Shiva closed his eyes and meditated for some time. When he opened his lotus-shaped eyes tears fell from them on the earth. Those tears are decent over Sitsail hill. Sometime after those tears became rudraksha trees. Padma Puranam, Chapter 57, Sri Bhagavan said, “If a man always wears a Rudraksa with fourteen mouths, permeated with God’s auspicious power, he is always honored and blessed by the demigods due to the greatness of his religious merit.” The Padma Purana states that rudrakshas may be used by Hindus of every denomination. They will even benefit atheists and sinners. Rudraksa beads are used as worshipful aids. These malas are also used in the practice of japa.
Black, dark brown, white & yellow color of rudraksa is available on which black & white colour is very rare. Rudraksha can be worn on Monday, Thursday, or any auspicious days like Sankranti, Purnima, Amavasya etc. Better to wear in Shukla paksha & check your auspicious choghadiya.
Report states that in the last twenty years no Ek Mukhi has been found in Nepal. A Round One Mukhi Rudraksha from Nepal is a myth. Any Rudraksa sold as a Nepalese One Mukhi Round Rudraksa is 99% fake Rudraksa and hence an alternate variety of One Mukhi Rudraksa from South India is the best. This Rudraksa is known as “A Half Moon Shaped Rudraksa” and it is available at a reasonable price with good results.
To energize new beads, immerse them in A2 Desi Cow ghee (clarified butter) for 24 hours and then soak them in A2 Cow milk for an additional 24 hours. Wash it with Ganga Jal and wipe the beads with a clean cloth. Do not wash them with soap, chemicals or any cleaning material. It should be done every six months. If you don’t have pure Desi cow milk or ghee in your place, put it in olive oil or seasame oil.
Beads are available in different versions like Nepal, Indonesia, India, Java, etc. Believe me, every rudraksha gives the same results so don’t put yourself in a marketing trap to buy costly beads because in the end your hunting will end down in a forgery. Never ever buy rudrakshas which have Serpents, Shivalings, Aumkar’s, etc on it. Always buy it from a reliable source & authentic supplier.
Many people get confused with the shape and size of Rudrakshas. One should not seriously worry about it. Just see that the Mukhi is well defined, corns are natural and there are no cracks near the central hole. The bead has to be lustrous and healthy and devoid of deep cracks and insect holes. The smaller ones cost more because the rudrakshas are not plucked from a tree, they wait for it to fall down and fully ripe. So it is much harder to pick up the smaller beads in the mountain so they cost more.

All rudrakshas are helpful depending on your requirement. We can not say which is the best. Rudrakshas can be used for many things like good physical/mental health, wealth, job, business, marriage, children’s education, marital discord, divorce issues, court cases, infertility, depression, restlessness, promotion, stage fears, lack of romance in life, activate chakra.
The price of rudrakshas varies as per mukhi, size, place of origin, and genuineness. It may start from Rs. 40/- and can go up to Rs.1,00,000/- plus. To know if it is original, the best method is microscopic examination and x-ray test from a reputed lab. Old methods of water and magnet tests can be misleading. People get cheated by such tests.

 

Rules for wearing Rudraksha

You can wear rudraksa as a bracelet also. However, keep in mind that odd Mukhi rudraksa like 3,5,7,9,11,13,15,17, etc should be worn on the left hand and even number rudraksha like 2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16,18, etc should be worn on the right hand. If it is cracked then it loses most of its power. It should be thrown into the river or sea and should not be worn.
All females can wear rudraksa irrespective of age. Rudrakshas are more useful for women because they are vulnerable to negative energies during menstrual cycles. Although it is not strictly prohibited, it is advisable not to wear Rudraksa during sex although there are different conflicting views given in the Ancient Texts regarding this.
You can continue with your regular food habits (veg or no veg) even if you are wearing a Rudraksa. However, in this case, you should keep the rudrakshas energized by reciting the common Beej Mantra “Om Namaha Shivaya” every day after taking a bath in the morning.

Generally, rudrakshas are available from 1 to 21 Mukhi and other rare beads. For astrological purposes, 2 ,3,5,7,8,9,11,13,15, and 17 Mukhi rudraksha are used. The shapes of rudraksha can be round, elliptical, and cylindrical. It is best if worn in the Red, Yellow, or White colored thread or it can be worn in Silver, Gold, Copper, or Mixed metal.
